Mark Lefebvre

Mark Lefebvre is a community coalition consultant and author of the book, Healing a Village: A Practical Guide to Building Recovery Ready Communities (Peter E. Randall Publisher), and is engaged with communities to help build the capacity to address addiction, mental health, community trauma, and harm reduction.

Previously, Mark was the statewide director for the Maine Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW) program which he founded in 2023 while employed by Pinetree Institute in Eliot, ME, and Portsmouth, NH. In that role Mark was responsible for building statewide capacity to recruit, train and support Maine businesses as Recovery Friendly Workplaces. Prior to this role, Mark was the Pinetree Director of Community Engagement where he was responsible for development of Recovery Ready Communities in the Seacoast of NH and southern ME.

Prior to Pinetree Institute, Mark served as statewide program director for the NH Works for Recovery program at Southern NH Services. In this role, Mark oversaw outreach and delivery of employment and training services to individuals and families affected by the New Hampshire opioid crisis and helped launch NH’s Recovery Friendly Workplace program. Mark had previously served on NH Governor Sununu’s Commission as a member of both the Prevention and Recovery Task Forces. Mark and his wife Vivian are co-founders of Safe Harbor Recovery Center in Portsmouth, NH.

Mark Lefebvre is a person in long-term recovery from addiction and co-occurring mental illness. and is the author of the book A Place in Time: Youth, Community & Baseball, a consultant, a radio DJ, and a podcast producer. He recently published a 20-episode podcast series It Takes A Village: Addiction Prevention & Recovery on the Seacoast.


Terrence Walton Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of NAADAC

Terrence D. Walton, MSW Terrence Walton is an addiction professional and the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals. For more than 50 years, NAADAC has represented addiction professionals and supported them in their life-saving work. Before joining NAADAC, Walton spent ten years as Chief Operating Officer for All Rise (founded as the National Association of Drug Court Professionals), where he led national and international initiatives to support addiction treatment and justice system professionals who work with individuals and families impacted by addiction and involved in the legal system. Previously, Walton was Director of Treatment for the Pretrial Services Agency for the District of Columbia (PSA). During his 15 years at this Federal law enforcement and community supervision agency, he directed the departments that provided substance use disorder and mental health assessment, treatment, drug treatment courts, and other alternatives to incarceration and conviction programs. Additionally, he previously served as the director of what was then Washington, D.C.’s leading adolescent outpatient substance use disorder treatment center, Sasha Bruce Youthworks’ Necessary Interventions for Adolescents (NIA). Walton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and a Master of Social Work degree with specializations in program administration and substance use disorder from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He is an active member of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP), focusing on developing the global addiction and prevention workforce. He was a certified drug and alcohol counselor for more than twenty years and has devoted his entire professional life to helping individuals, families, and communities impacted by addiction recover and thrive.


David Whitesock Founder at Commonly Well

David has led innovative and entrepreneurial programs in addiction, recovery, and technology since 2004. While designing new approaches to peer coaching, he developed the Recovery Capital Index® (RCI). David founded Commonly Well in 2020 to broaden the reach and impact of the Recovery Capital Index and to improve how data is used to enhance the recovery process. Through Commonly Well, David also works with healthcare systems and behavioral health clinics to design and implement improved patient experiences. David is a regular speaker and advocate for addiction and mental health. He focuses his advocacy on improving wellbeing for fellow attorneys and reducing impaired driving. David lives and works out of Potsdam, NY, where, along with his wife and beagle, enjoy exploring the expanse of the Adirondacks.
